This special mix is blended with all the good stuff, to ensure your plants growth. We use premium NZ products for optimal drainage and organic substances with all the important parts to help your plants not only survive but thrive in your environment!

Begonia make excellent house plants, they can be tricky but if you start with a good base they make for easy care plants.

They are known in the houseplant world for their colourful and essentric shaped leaves. They come in many different shapes and sizes which make collecting them fun.

Begonia generally have shallow and wide spreading root systems. The root structure is fibrous, meaning thin branching roots which is advantageous for enhanced nutrient absorption. This is why they need a more finer substrate so their delicate roots can spread easily. 

Our special begonia mix is blended with- Coco peat to allow moisture retention. You see peat being used mainly as the base but we prefer coco coir over peat, it is not as waterlogging and compacting. Perlite to allow air pockets for the all important oxygen to roots. Pumice to allow for good drainage and prevent waterlogging. Biochar which rids soil of impurities, repels insects and prevents mould. Vermiculite helps aerate soil while retaining moisture and nutrients, releasing them slowly. We haven’t added in any fertilisers this is so you are in control of what your plants are fed and when.

Composition:

Coco coir-Great for roots, high water retention. 100% organic and renewable.

Perlite-Ensures good drainage, creates air pockets for roots to get oxygen.

Vermiculite-Aerates soil while retaining moisture and nutrients, releasing them slowly

Pumice-Allows excess water to drain freely

Biochar-Rids soil of impurities, repels insects and prevents mould.
